Today, I am presenting a flourishing analysis of the top ten most run-scorer in the history of test cricket. In the top ten list, all the test players scored more than 10,000 runs during their entire careers. It is considered a major achievement if a player scored more than 10,000 runs in any format of cricket during his career. As of September 2021, thirteen players from seven teams have scored more than 10,000 runs in the history of test cricket. Now, the top ten most successful players in the history of test cricket are as below:
Allan Border or simply AB is the tenth most run-maker in the history of test cricket. He scored 11,174 runs in 265 innings with an average of 50.56. AB made 27 centuries and 63 fifties for Australia. He played 156 matches between 1978 – 1994. His career was spanned over sixteen years. He had known for the most durable career in his time.
09. Denagamage Proboth Mahela de Silva Jayawardene
The second prolific and classy batsman for Sri Lankan cricket is DMPD Jayawardene who scored 11,814 runs in the history of test cricket. He made 34 centuries and 50 fifties in 149 test matches. He played test cricket for his country during 1997 – 2014. His highest individual score in an inning is 374.
08. Shivnarine Chanderpaul.
After scoring 11,867 runs in the test cricket, Shivnarine Chanderpaul is placed on eights placed in the list of top ten most run scorer in the history of test cricket. He is also a West Indian player who played 164 matches during 1994 – 2015 and scored 30 centuries and 66 fifties. His highest individual score is 203 not out.
One of the greatest batsmen of all time and the highest run-maker for West Indies cricket. Brian Charles Lara scored 11,953 runs in 232 innings with an average of 52.88. During seventeen years of his career, he holds several cricketing records including the highest individual score in first-class cricket and as well as in international test cricket. He scored 400 not out against England which is the highest individual score in the test inning. He made 34 centuries and 48 fifties in his entire career.
The Sri Lankan hero and the top run-maker of the country is Kumar Sangakkara. He is placed at the sixth spot in the list of top ten most run scorer in the history of test cricket. He scored 12,400 runs in 233 innings with an average of 57.4. His highest individual score in one inning is 319. During his fifteen years of shinning career, he scored 38 centuries and 52 fifties.
05. Alastair Nathan Cook.
The English most famous and top batsman in the history of Test Cricket is placed in fifth place in the list of top ten most run scorer in the history of test cricket. Alastair Cook scored 12,472 for England with an average of 45.35. He played 161 matches and made 33 tons and 57 fifties. The highest individual score from the English hero is 294.
Rahul Dravid got fourth place in the list of top ten most run scorer in the history of test cricket after making 13,288 runs with an average of 52.31. The Indian wall was probably considered as one of the last classical Test match batsmen. He made 36 centuries and 63 fifties in his 286 innings. He played 164 matches between 1996 and 2012.
The broad-shouldered colossus of the South African team and the third most run scorer in the history of test cricket is Jacques Kallis. He played 166 matches between 1995 and 2013 and made 13,289 runs with an average of 55.37. He made 45 centuries and 58 fifties.
The Australian most successful run-maker and the most uncompromising player of his generation named Ricky Ponting is the second most run-maker in the history of Test Cricket. He scored 13,378 runs in 287 innings with an average of 51.85. In 1995, he started his career at the age of 21. He made 41 tons and 62 fifties. His highest individual score is 257.
The Indian Little Master and the most complete batsman of his time named Sachin Tendulkar is the most prolific run-maker of all time in the history of test cricket. Sachin Tendulkar scored 15,921 runs in 329 innings with an average of 53.78. He started his career in 1989 at the age of 16 years. His career was spanned over 24 years. During his entire career, he played 200 matches in which he was unbeatable 33 times. His highest individual score is 248 not out. He made 51 centuries and 68 fifties in test cricket which was also a world record.
